The Hunger
This DnB tune is my favorite of 2011 so far. It's infused with IDM techniques on the percussion as well as jazz and latin in the melody & timbre. It starts off with a glitched out granular effect and works its way into a little IDM segment. Then it breaks off into a melodic rise into the drop. Spent a good amount of time on the sound design of the bass, and while it's not a in-yo-face type bass like so many people crave these days, I think it fits nicely. The first bridge afterward leads into a nice latin jazz segment that leads into the second drop which is all triplet based as apposed to the square feeling the first drop had.
Did I mention I love orchestral sounds? I do...I can't seem to get away from those beautiful 70 string marcato/staccato sounds in the east west orchestral pack...
